Antigua & Barbuda advance to second round

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua & Barbuda, April
5, 2009.- Antigua & Barbuda defeated
St. Kitts & Nevis, 25-23, 25-22, 25-23
to win the battle between unbeaten
teams and the ticket to the next phase
in the FIVB Men’s World Championship
first round NORCECA -B tournament.
The victory enabled Antigua & Barbuda
one spot in the NORCECA -C second
round tournament in Trinidad & Tobago
on May 31-June 7. In that competition
they will meet teams of Suriname,
Aruba, Netherlands Antilles, and U.S.
Virgin Islands and hosts Trinidad &
Tobago.

5, 2009.- British Virgin Island scored
a straight set victory over Montserrat
by score of 25-13, 25-14, 25-11 in the
FIVB Men’s World Championship first
round Norceca-B Tournament.
Canice Marquis led the winners with 13
points and Oren Hodge (8). By MTS
Collis Rankin lead with 8 points.
BVI finish the tournament to record of
1-3, Montserrat the small country in
World Championship winless in the
tournament.

5, 2009.- Anguilla defeat French St
Martin in the last day of the FIVB
2010 Men’s World Championship first
round Norceca-B Tournament.
The score was 25-14, 25-21, 22-25,
25-21. Anguilla finish the
participation with 3-2 and French St.
Martin 1-4.
“I am not happy, did not win games
that we had to win. If it happy to see
that the level has improved in the
zone. Now to continue working to the
next tournament.”

recovered from a five-point deficit in
the fourth frame and ended with a
five-set win over Anguilla in the last
match of Day Three in the FIVB Men’s
World Championship first round Norceca-B
tournament. The score was 24-26,
25-18, 17-25, 25-23, 15-12.
The host team erased a 14-19 deficit
in the fourth set with effective
blocking and serving and maintained
that same pattern in the tie-breaker.

3, 2009.- St. Kitts & Nevis rolled
past over Montserrat in straight sets
and has now a 2-0 win-loss record in
the FIVB Men’s World Championship
first round Norceca-B tournament.
Montserrat, probably the smallest
country playing in this stage of the
World Championships, battled in the
third set but at the end the strength
of SKN was the key factor. The score
was 25-5, 25-13, 25-20.

British Virgin Islands defeats French St.

ST. JOHN’S, Antigua & Barbuda, April
3, 2009.- British Virgin Islands faced
a strong resistance from French St.
Martin but ended with a 25-20, 25-18,
24-26, 26-24 victory in the first game
of Day Three of the Men’s FIVB World
Championship first round Norceca-B
tournament.
The French St. Martin team made the
adjustments in their starting side and
the rotation for the third set, a move
which allowed them to win a close set
and give a tough battle in the fourth
and last one.

with Henry Mathew leading the group with

moments early and late in the match but
finished winning a thrilling five-setter
over Anguilla with a come-from-behind
victory by score of 22-25, 24- 26, 25-10,
25-17, 18-16 in the FIVB Men’s World
Championship first round Norceca-B
tournament.
Shawn Seabrookes scored 30 points,
including six blocks, and St. Clair Hodge
contributed 24 points carrying the load of
the attack of team considered the favorite
to win the competition.

2009.- French St. Martin had better game
control than one day earlier and got a
25-14, 25-14, 25-23 victory over
Montserrat in the second day of action in

Richardson Rotillo was the best scorer of
the match with 16 points for the winners
and Paul Quellery added 8. Daley Dennison
scored six points for the losing side.

2009.- Perry Richardson scored a
match-high 31 points and captain Ian
Connor added 18 leading Anguilla to a
five-set victory over a resilient
British Virgin Islands team in the
first match of the 2010 FIVB Men’s
World Championship first round Norceca-B
tournament.
Anguilla won the first two sets and
seemed comfortably on their way to an
easy triumph when stumbled against
their tough opponents who sent the
match to the limit. The score was
25-20, 25-20, 23-25, 21-25, 15-13.

The team of St. Kitts and Nevis is
considered the favorites in the FIVB
Men’s Volleyball World Championship
first round Norceca-B tournament, but
coach Glenn Quinlan is taking a
cautious approach before the start of
the competition.
"We are considered the team to beat,
but we are going to play each match
with great respect," said Quinlan in
the press conference hours before the
